Day 3!!!!

Started up as a not so good day weather-wise but certainly ended up being gorgeous! First order was visiting my little gran so we made our way up to Highlands house ( her nursing home) and surprised her! She was so happy to see us and it was great, we even were all kind of matching her outfit too, besides dad and Allan ( I guess they missed the blue/green memo). We promised her we would be back to feed her dinner so decided to head up to Muizenberg, which was the closest place.

The drive just like any other it was beautiful (I mean when do you drive in Cape Town and not think it's heaven?) . It's so amazing that you look to your left...and there are breath-taking mountains and then you look to your right and there's a never ending ocean. Both worlds come together as one. Muizenberg is on the other side of table mountain ( that big one that has a flat top) so the ocean becomes the Indian Ocean, which is a lot warmer than the Atlantic. Unfortunately we did think to bring our coozie ( bathing suits), but the wind was out to play a little today but that didn't stop many people! We ate some more fish and chips at Lucy Fish, which was delicious again. With Muizenberg being the warmer ocean it is surf city. Oh Wee, and were the boys looking good! :) I think I might take up surfing just to be taught by a cute boy with an accent ha! On the contrary warmer water mean...SHARKS! "Hello Bruce!" <-- great white from Finding Nemo. Haha. In America we have a flag at the beach for under currents...in Cape Town they have shark flags! When we got there it was RED, which meant high shark alert, but then changed to black which is slightly better. I will definitely have to go back there and bring my bathing suit this time! Not for the sharks, but the surfer boys!

What the flag means!

Better watch out!

Red flag but people still out there!

There is a little fishing town near there called Fish Hoek but there was some construction going on and we couldn't get there but hopefully we will get a second chance soon. As promised to gran we headed back to the home and walked around a little bit, and then feed her supper ( dinner). The people at the nursing home are to cute! She is in the special care unit, so most of them have dementia or something of that nature, and they are all so sweet to talk to. It's sad because most of them don't have gran kids that come and visit and stuff :(. Well I'm sure my granny will be the one envied by all! ( Even though she probably won't like that, she doesn't want friends because she feels that she doesn't need to be there...)

Tonight we had a big family dinner at the restaurant in our flat ( apartment). This place we are staying at is a eco-friendly place. They plant a tree for every 4 nights you stay, so needless to say our family is planting a good amount of trees! The dinner was wonderful, good food and drinks and we got to bond with our cousins! They are twins, Lauren and Brett (19 turning 20 next week) and then my other cousin Amanda (25). I had a mango mojito and they put CHILI PEPPERS in it...no bueno ha! I thought they were cherry tomatoes but I quickly found out I was wrong when I got to the bottom of the drink and my mouth was numb and on fire!

At the bar!

After dinner Brett and Lauren took us to their friends house, to have our first night out (without the parents) in Cape Town! A group of us then went to a bar called Raffiki's, which was a lot of fun. Just a nice sit down and drink/chill place. Its so crazy because outside there are skollies (homeless people) sleeping outside, people just ignore them and walk right past!

Today we are going to meet one of my dad's friends in langeban (lung-ga-bon), which is supposed to have a great beach and according to my cousins some younger folk! Hopefully the weather clears up a bit more so we can lay out and catch some South African rays! Catch ya later gators!!!
