Just hung out with Jeanette today, went cavendish to get her watch and ring from the jewelry store, ate lunch and then looked for some Afrikaans books but didn't find any worth while buying. Did buy a pretty new ring.

Came home edited some videos of the aquarium. Heather and valcon came through Hout Bay and fetched me, I took them to the harbour and then we stopped at Chapman's peak hotel and ate in the restaurant. Very good calamari, my parents were right and would be jealous.
While driving around Valcon took a turn up the township road....I've never been so anxious and scared in my life. Imizamo yetu is not the place for whites, let alone Americans to be. We probably looked terrified in the car driving up the road to a turn around stop, but we got some pretty weird faces back at us ha. Needless to say we are still alive and with all our valuables! Never again though.

Got convinced to go to shul tomorrow, not to excited but what the hell, ill just be sitting at home anyway. Going to clairmont with Melissa's and then shabbot dinner at her friends house.

So weird waking up and not cleaning a boat, checking clients in, flirting with Nicola, and playing with sharks!!!

Walked to world of bird and inquired about volunteering there, came home and set up camp by the pool.

Went to the biscuit mill to visits cousin and drop off suitcases. Ate a lovely meat and cheese platter. And then came home and started working on my volunteer videos.

Jeanette made a yummy chicken pie for dinner. Nice to have a nice good home cooked meal!

Now just chilling, watching tv and editing my videos.

Plans to walk to world of birds tomorrow again, but actually go in and explore. Jared might come if he can get a ride over here, since he can't drive still. Then might go back to his house and chill by the pool.

Leaving gaansbaai today, so upset :(. I was only here two weeks but it felt like so much more. Such amazing people and memories made, even though it wasn't exactly what I thought it was I still am excited to come back.

Had an amazing trip on the water saw great sharks, saw a flock of gamets and bottle nose dolphins!!! Plus a whale. The ocean is going to miss me and came to say good bye.

I am definitely coming back for Klara's birthday. Tracey said I can come back for a week for free if I'd like, so if the game farm doesn't go through then I definitely will! Looked up the game farm an is actually a hunting lodge, not sure if I mentioned this in my previous post, but I'm not very excited about it.

Heading home to Cape Town tonight, Melissa and everyone wants to go to spur and dubliner, probably best to so something since I'm already upset about leaving all the wonderful people I met in the last 2 weeks.

Semi- excited to just relax and lay out tomorrow!

Buy one get on free burgers at spur...hell yea, and so good. I have given up on dubliner. Every time I have gone its not very fun, ready for a new bar!

54, last night in Gaansbaai

Only had one trip today and it was a late trip at 11, so got to sleep in a bit.

Very small trip only 18 people so that meant i got to dive!! Visibility was awesome but I'm so smart and forgot my memory card for my gopro ( in my computer just like usual!) Still went in but just got all of Kits video's. He got some GREAT passes, I kept trying to touch the sharks but none would get close enough. Maybe tomorrow. I am going on the boat again but leaving afterwards. Kinda sad!!! So many fun experiences and new people I got to meet! I might come back after Johannesburg for Klara's birthday on March 19th, the only problem is my flight to Atlanta leaves March 21st so it might be a little bit of a struggle, plus I'll have to see everyone before I leave. My flight leaves very late at night so I can always have a dinner with everyone before I leave forthe airport. I'll have to figure it out!

Eating at the Great White House tonight and then going to a few bars, including Taphouse for  Picasso ( its a "drink" but not in a glass. It a paint pallet and every whole is filled with a different liquor. You have to do it fast and its very yummy. Every volunteer has to do it when they leave.) I'll take a pic so you can see what I am talking about. Then to Salon for Karaoke and then Captains for pool and dancing.

I'm learning Afrikaans and am very proud of myself!!! Jared said he will teach me more when I get back home.

Never made it to captains. Sang Taylor swift at saloon ( you are welcome Cassie) and hey Mickey song because there were three other Nikki's In the crowd. Played some pool got hit on by weird guys...no big deal... Gah!!!!!!

No volunteers were allowed to go on the exclusive trip this morning because it was the king and queen of Jordan!!! Would have been awesome to be in the presence of royalty! Instead we watched them board and then went off to the beach to collect kelp to make wreaths for the Birkenhead memorial on the 28th. I HATE KELP, it smells bad and has all this Nast bugs/fleas that hangout in it and then jump off. Luckily I had my boots!

No biologist will be back to check the next trip in ( the job Nicola usually does, but like stated before he's in cape town:/) so I have to do it! Kinda excited to make fun of him and say I took his job ha!

Full trip on the second so might no be able to dive again.

Oh yesterday a shark struck Sally the seal decoy out of no where and got a tooth stuck in it so kwezi gave it to me!!! So awesome and sharp, was messing around with it and cut my finger ha!

Check in went smoothly and ha a great trip, saw some big sharks. So tired but no time for a nap :(, managed to squeeze in a 20 min cat nap but that just made me feel worse.

Got the confirmation about going to the game reserve in Johannesburg. Can't decide if I'm happy about it or not. Jared isn't going to happy about this.
But then again he's been less talkative since the weekend.

Went to play pool at sea view, it was a busy night with tops 20 people ha! Love "local" watching! Late trip Tomorrow at 11 so we get to sleep in, wish I had my Korea. Cassie, Kenzie and Katelyn here with me. Miss them more than my family sadly. Only 1 more month until I get to see them!

Tonight I'm going home to YouTube africaans videos so I can be fluent I it by the time I get back!!!

Happy birthday toy baby brother today!!! Miss his crazy, annoying ass soo much! It was another thirst Thursday at the ΣΝ house and he word is he was raggin! Good for him!

We had 2 trips again today. I was in a weird mood and I think it had to do with 1.) not being able to party my bro on his day of birth 2.) not being able to party with my lovely friends at the frat castle and lastly 3.) Nicola was leaving for cape town today to go visit his girlfriend, his birthday is tomorrow. ( thumbs down) he'd have more fun with me! Ha.

Trips today were so chaotic. I hate it when they are like that because I feel useless and always in someone's way!

Going to play pool tonight, and then have one exclusive trip tomorrow and a regular one. Hopefully the exclusive one is someone famous!!! That would be awesome!

So I found this volunteer program in Belize, get to scuba dive and collect data. Definitely wanting to do it, it's only a 2 week program. Already planning my trip! Oct 24 trough Nov 6 I WILl be in Belize!!!

Got gone from captain after playing lots of pool and chilling and had a great conversation with Jason ( another volunteer) about relationships and pets. Lots of good stuff, he's a really good guy! But off to bed now, I've got to be fresh and ready Tomorrow in case it's a famous person on the boat!!!

Such a good shark day, especially since we haven't been on the water for 2 days!!! First trip we saw about 10 different sharks and a good amount of action on the second trip as well. Lots of Americans today, most from Texas and a few from Virginia! 'Merica taking over! After the trips went to spar to get some groceries for the braai later tonight!

Before the braai I attempted to cut Nicolas hair, with the help of Klara after a while. Doesn't look too bad ha! A hair dress is definitely not a career in my near future!

Braai was great had a delish T-bone steak, potato salad, green beans and green salad! Yum!

Have two trips tomorrow again at 9 and 1 so hopefully the sharks are out to play again and the visibility is good so I can dive! Sunday is my last day here, going to miss everyone soo much!!!

The big 50!

Trip was cancelled!! Yay! Another day off. Got to sleep in til about 9 and then decided to be productive and went for a run. Ran all the way to the boats near the great White House and then popped in at Nicolas flat since it was on the way back to say hello!

Went to hermanus to do a little shopping, got a necklace, bracelet and some really cool salad servers!!! Now on the way back to kleinbaai to relax.

Not much activity for the evening just went over it Nicolas with kit to chill a d the. Came home and went to sleep. Back to work tomorrow with 2 trips.

Moved to the White House yesterday so new place to sleep tonight. It was a very comfy bed and I have a room to myself again. Only had one trip this morning and then listened to Ollie give a lecture of shark tagging, very Interesting! Tomorrow we have a no sea day because it is going to be very windy so we are going to a wine farm, cheese factory and possibly a brewery

Took a nice and well deserved nap and the. Decided to be proactive and o for a run. Ran up the street and down to the dock and then came back, except on my way back I took a slight wrong turn and got lost. Not too lost though as soon as I turned the corner I realized it and turned around ( in the back of my head hoping that was the right decision).

Later in the evening, Nicola and I took a nice walk down to the rocks. Such a pretty place and so relaxing. Went back to Nicolas flat and hung out then came back to my house to watch a movie with kit and jayson, plus I was hungry. Nicola is very sweet but the more and more I hang out with him the more he reminds me of my cousin grant, their voices are very similar and it's kind of weird. Not to mention he has a girlfriend.

Worked on editing my aquarium video, thought it would be easy but this shot is HARD!!! I'm not a very good editor ha.

Busy day today, big group in the morning and and exclusive trip in the afternoon. A group of 5 Russians, not that much fun. Didn't do anything exciting at night, just went over to Nicolas's flat and watched movies. Strange wilderness and the sitter. Strange wilderness seriously makes you feel stupider and the sitter was funny. He's a pretty cool cat besides the fact that he has a girlfriend. :(

One trip in the am at 10 and a second at 1. Worked both :( so exhausted. I would do anything just to rest but that is not possible, after second trip we played touch rugby again plus did a few back handsprings. So mad at myself because people asked me to do back tucks and I was a scared-ey cat and said " the Sand Is to soft" what the fuck Nikki, too soft. What did you want hard?!? So mad at myself!!!!
It did feel great to cook tonight, made some pasta with meat sauce. At 9 the taxis picked us up for the bar. Nicola was there but he left early. I'm going to ignore him the next week, not even worth my time. Such a talker...kinda mad at him
Actually....will wee see how he acts when I see him tomorrow, he probably thinks I'm joking about being mad at him. Have two trips tomorrow. One at 10 and 1 possibly.

Walked into the house ( came early, by myself) and fell over the stupid stool ( which I had left close to the door way). Ouch my knee, just one more battle scar/bruise to add to the collection.

Eating some left over pasta and then hitting the sack, go t Busy day tomorrow. Good night world!!!

day 43, 2nd day vols.

Got up about the same times as yesterday, had to be at the Great White house again at 8. This morning some of us went on the boat, the others had to get pick, cut and wash some kelp stems. Then we had to make them into circles and lay them out to dry. This is all being down for a memorial of a shipwreck on the 26th of Feb. Not too bad of a job, got done before the 1st boat got back to ate some lunch at the restaurant. I have baked potato with chicken mayo on top, sound so weird but DELICIOUS!!!! Got to go on the second boat trip, and the visibility had cleared up a lot ( not super clear but at least you could see about 3 meters in front of you), so I packed myself a wet suit to take another look at these Gorgeous, majestic and amazing animals we call Great White Sharks!

Water was so cold!!!! But it is worth the pain so see a shark swim right by you, so close you could touch it! I had the best seat in the house right at the end near the Bait thrower!

The big guys were out today and my my were they playful!!!

First day as a volunteer!!! I'm ready to rock and roll baby! Had to wake up at 7:00 to be down at the Great White house by 8. My task on the morning was to go help get the boat ready! So that's wiping down all the seats and hand rails, pretty much making it look neat and pretty! The first trip launched at 8:30. Saw some massive sharks! Didn't bring my camera but I "borrow" some of Nicola's from the marine dynamic blog (www.sharkwatchSA.com) A crazy client did chug a cup of chum ( the ground up fish and fish oil we used to attracts the sharks to the boat) for R300 from his buddies from Australia. Crazy dude! I would have never done it to just 300, that's like $30!!! No freaking way bru! HA. The second boat launched back to back with the first, so it was a long day at sea, but definitely worth every second! Saw about 6 sharks in the morning and a good but in the afternoon. Rosie, hung around for a good bit and gave everyone a show. After the diving was done for the day we headed to Spar ( a grocery store) to get food for the braai. One girl, Kate, was here for 6 weeks on her second visit, and she is leaving tomorrow so we had to send her out with a bang. I roomed with her so after tomorrow I will have to room to myself! Yippeee!

Braai was fun, played beer pong and listened to music. Nothing to crazy just chill. Headed home around 12 to hit the sack and get ready for another shark-filled day!

41- on the way to gaansbaai to cage dive!!

It's a great morning to wake up!!! Something new and exciting and probably on some crazy people bucket lists!!! Just got picked up by the gaansbaai bus and headed to my great white shark program! If you can't tell I'm very excited by this haha. Bus is kinda quiet tried to say hello to everyone but maybe they aren't morning people...oh well!

Thinking about it now, I definitely overpacked ha! Why in the world did I have to pack 3 different bras?!?! All I needed was one strapless and one regular one..silly me oh well, probably won't wear half the clothes I brought but I'd rather be over packed than lightly packed and miserably! It's ok make fun on me struggle to get my bag, it's exercise and I need it!

So I just realized that not everyone one the bus this morning were volunteers. I am the only one very one else was she there for the day to cage dive.et a very nice fellow from UNC. Exchanges email and stuff to send each other photos.

Visibility was not good in the water but definitely saw some great whites!!!
The crew is awesome! After the diving we went to play rugby and I did pretty good! Then just sat an played drinking games.

Off to bed now!!! Gotta be up at 6AM :(((

Great night last night! :D got up and went to visit gran, sine ill be away for 2 weeks. He was so amazing when we got there, so alert and happy. We decided to take her the Cape Town gardens to eat and walk, only if she promised to behave when we came back. She did little to we know she threw a fit and a good visit took a complete 180.

At garden center we ate at a sweet cafe, I played with the pigeon and squirrels. Pay R5 for a bag of nuts and they come eat from your hand!!! Pigeons will come fly and sit on you!!! Gross but cool!

Camp home is packed and made sure I had everything and then headed to heather and valcan's flat in sea point. Sat and chatted and then ate at a pure Italian place across the street, yummy! Now just chilling getting ready for bed!

Getting picked up for gaansbaai at 8:40 tomorrow morning!! Then cage diving!!!! Can't wait!!!!

Rain rain go away I wanted to play on the beach all day :((! Going to help out at saucisse since its raining and I can't do anything. Telling everyone to come eat lunch their and visit me!!! Maybe Jared will come :D! Hopefully the rain will ease up later, we are having a braai at Melissa's and will be playing 'merica drinking games ( flip cup and beer pong!)

Rained all day until about 4, cool weather! Busy day at the mill despite the rain. Didn't do too much since its a small place and there was me and Jeanette helping the 2 girls that were there already.

At Melissa's just chilling, waiting for people to come over. No luck finding ping pong balls so no beer pong.

Braai was fab, so yummy and we played circle of death and one game of flip cup, ha. Good times with good people.

usual routine:
~ wake up.
~Go to aquarium.
~come home.

But between aquarium and home is where it gets interesting!!! So I go to lunch and put my nokia phone in my shirt pocket, so I can keep track of time and meet Hayley to feed the penguins in the afternoon. Everything goes well, and then I got to pick up the false rocks on the penguins beach, as I bend over the phone falls out, luckily only into the false rock bowl (which is empty). I think to myself must got put go put that in my bag, since I'm doing "dirty work". The thought was in my head, unfortunately I never made to the my purse because Hayley stopped me on her way out and said don't forget to do the windows in the Rockies exhibit downstairs....No excuse for not continuing with my plan to set my phone back in my bag, but I got carried away and didn't. So you thought that was crazy listen to what happens next!!! Go to spray the windows down, climb up on ledge, bend down to pick up hose.....and.....Plop, goes my phone...INTO THE WATER...10ft BELOW!!!! Really! first my iphone when I first got it and now this!!! So I had to go find someone in a wet suit to retrieve the phone. Luckily ( not sure if this is lucky or not) the phone hit a bar on the way to the water and the battery popped out but landed on solid ground (so battery is not submerged in water). So needless to say the phone is sitting in rice and not sure if it is going to be as lucky as my iphone! Melissa has an extra phone for me ( hopefully its one that has whatsapp on it. because then I don't really need my iphone that much = don't have to use data = SAVE MONEY! So there hope that provided some entertainment for you on this wonderful THURSDAY!

No plans for tonight, unless I go play trivia with my aunt, uncle and theirs friends. Haven't decided what to do....

Went to trivia and actually contributed to some questions! We got 3rd so not bad, Melissa came and picked me up and the met Jared, Shalom and Brendan at a Caprice, had a drink and then they wanted sushi so we went to this dodgy (sketchy) place in Sea point. Thank god I wasn't hungry! After that came home and went to sleep.

And another phone miracle....The rice worked once again and little nokia is back up and running.

Went for a short run this morning, and then just vegged out by the pool. Convinced myself to do some more back tucks to get the adrenaline pumping and succeeded. my plan is to try to 5 a day, it a really good work out. Get to use the ab muscles that I cant really use doing crunches and stuff, plus work some back muscles by landing and pulling my chest up fast ( Dante would be so proud!). It took me forever to pick up that sharp concept when cheering for VSU!

Only a couple more days till I have to back my bags and head to Gaansbaai to start my 2 weeks program! So excited for a change, love my Aunt and Uncle to death but I need a break. More so my uncle, the stuff that comes out of his mouth is just ridiculous, its not bad enough that you have to harass me with pointless information about everything, but now my friends. Just because you know their family from back in the day doesn't mean they want to know their whole family history. I'm pretty sure if they wanted to know they'd ask THEIR family, not YOU! Gaaah! I'm going crazy here! Anyways back to Gaansbaai, I'm supposed to book a backpackers in central cape town, which are kind of expensive if you are staying by yourself, but my cousin lives in Woodstock and they said I can stay at here...great easy!! NOOO nothing can ever be easy, she is going out of town and will be back Sunday (probably not late because everyone she is working with had work Monday and so does she). So this is kinda what the conversation via text is like:
Me: "Hey can I stay at you Sunday? Supposed to picked up for my shark thing Monday morning and have to stay in central cape town?
Amanda: "I going away not sure when I will be back Sunday, what time are they picking you up?
Me: "I'll know exact times on Sunday, but they said its between 5 and 8 AM Monday."
***No response for a little bit***
Me: If not I need to know asap, so I can book a pack backers. Don't need to come for the whole day just come later at night and leave Monday am."
***20 minutes later no response still***

I'm so aggravated its a simple freaking question and the answer should be YES! It's no like I'm going to crash on her couch for a week, I really don't want to spend $30-50 to stay at a back packers (BY MYSELF) for not even 24 hours, its a waste of money! I can bet you that since I mentioned staying at a back packers she's going to be like "Well you should just stay at the pack packers because it will be easier" ( aka your request doesn't fit my schedule so I really don't want to deal with it!)  I mean really, I'm your COUSIN!!! and its not even 12 hours that I will be sleeping on your couch! She did the same thing for my birthday, I had all these plans and driving to Hout bay was to far for her and then Fire and Ice was too expensive for her. and then it was her friends are going to be at the watch instead of the waiting room ( where i had booked a table) so we should just come to her...Everything revolves around her. My 2nd cousin and her Husband are in cape town for a while so hopefully they will be staying in Central Cape town so I can just make her life easier and stay with them ( for 12 hours!) MY WORD! Sorry for the venting session....

On a happier note, we are going to see my step-cousin perform in a western improve show tonight! Thank goodness I brought my cow girl boots!!! YEE-HAW!

Thank the lord for my 2nd cousins being here, arranged to stay with them in Sea point Sunday night, and of course they were very welcoming! Not "oh let me see and I'll get back to you", and they are my SECOND cousins!

Ate a brass bell in Kalk Bay, and watched the show, it was good. Was definitely expecting it to be funnier though. Off to bed because I have an early start tomorrow at the aquarium, cross my fingers I'll finally be diving tomorrow!!!

Yay a day to finally sleep in! Woke up and went to visit my gran at Highlands House. She was doing amazing today. I was happy she was behaving good, since my cousin Amanda hasn't seen her since they literally had to drag her out the house the day she was being admitted to the nursing facility. It was a little traumatizing and I can understand why. I probably will never be able to eat a grilled cheese and tomato sandwich just because of the events that arose the day Lauren and I went. Gran said she was very happy to see us, and even asked Amanda about how the business was going! Very surprising for a lady with Dementia. We walked around with her, feed her some pasta salad and potato salad. After visiting her Jeanette and I went to long street to search for some high-wasted vintage/atez shorts. Finally found some and I was very happy to see that they actually looking decent on me since I'm so little, they usually look dreadful!

Came home and laid out by the pool and took a little shlofy ( nap) until it got to hot and then came inside and read some of my new book from the aquarium, but couldn't keep my eyes open so gave in and took a nap.

Had a nice home cooked meal, made with love by auntie Jeanette. Watching a movie with them, just chillin. Kind of bored and wish they had a treadmill. I feel so yuck, stopped running since I started going to the aquarium and definitely feel it!

Goin to go for a walk/run tomorrow morning and start doing crunches again, maybe convince myself to do a few tucks again that's always a good work out. There is a the red hot chili peppers concert tonight at the new stadium built for the World Cup, Cape Town is going crazy for it! Would have been fun to go even though "the peppers" are not really big in the states anymore. Was supposed to get a ticket from Vegas (Durban Blondie) but forgot to get his number and stuff, stupid me! :( :(((!

Back to the aquarium today. Would have much rather slept in but I said I'd be there Monday so had to keep my word. Decent morning just feeding penguins, walking around and stuff. Saw some crazy acrobatic stuff outside the food court. Tonight we are continuing the celebration of my day of birth at dubliner. The Durban boys we I met last night said they'd come so we shall see. Hope they do they were fun! And Vegas was a cutie ha.

I definitely need to start running and walking again! Feel so nasty!

Finished up my day at the aquarium and am in dyer need of a nap!!!

Woke up and went to cavendish with Brendan and Jared to hop and eat lunch ad then just hung out. Went to cafe caprice and chilled with a guy Brendan works with he had a lounge section reserved. Caprice on a Sunday is the place for the young folk to be! Drank there for a bit and then went to eat sushi and meet up with some other people.

Came back to caprice. For people who are interested In cycling we were chilling with a pro down hill cyclist who is a champion!!! Shot definitely go weird, him and bunch if his friends are here from the Durban area for the Red hot chilli peppers concert on Tuesday. Vegas one of his buddies ( super cutie by the way) might have an extra ticket for me!!! We are meeting them at dubliner tomorrow night!

32 (my birthday)

Get home last night and reach for my lamp and there is an envelope. A card from my aunt and uncle and inside is a gift certificate for my massage, I was so shocked and grateful I couldn't help but cry.

Woke up to some sweet messages from friends and family (obviously sobbed a little more), got up and got ready to head to Sorbet for my 60 min full body Swedish massage!

It was amazing!!!! Went by so fast! Did a little shoppin at the waterfront. Happy birthday to me. Ate lunch came home ad took a nap and then went to total eatery for dinner and waiting room to party! Ha a blast! Literally best time if my life! Such a great birthday even though my best friends couldn't be with me!

Got the best and most unexpected gift....my Michael kors watch from my parents!!!! Can't thank them enough for what they do!

After the waiting room, we headed to cafe caprice but they were closed so we just ran around in the beach "looking for turtles" and acting like penguins lol...don't ask.

Done with the aquarium til next week, might go Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Did the usual and took care of the penguins. Nikki the big fat rockhopper that is molting decided he wanted to go down stairs today, I didn't even think twice about it and thought he was teddy (the one with arthritis) so I tried to pick him up because he wasn't walking. Well didn't end good ha. He kept pecking at my arms and I kept thinking "wow! Teddy is really grumpy today." Ha needless to say its because that wasn't Teddy, it was Nikki. Guess I should start learning how to identify the rockhoppers now too.

Moved the shark that was in holding back to the predator tank, got some great video of the procedure (weighing, tagging and such). Also have some more Gopro footage of the penguins and Doug the baby loggerhead turtle.

Watched some people dive in the predator tank, going to try set up to dive in there soon. I've found it so relaxing just going to sit and watch the critters in the predator tank just swim round and round! When I win the mega million I think I'll buy a house where the basement has a wall that is all glass looking into my extra super large fish tank!

Fed Canaloni ( green turtle) by myself and gave her a good scratch. Relieved to rest tomorrow, my lower back is killing me! Going to eat at pakalolo with Derrik and Jeanette and then meeting up with Brendan for drinks.

It's my birthday in South Africa. :( let the emotions begin....really wish my biffles were here with me.
